Vintage Images from the 70's and 80's.

 The following post features a random set of 4 images I recently digitised from my collection. The were taken in the 70's or 80's mainly in the United Kingdom.

River Thames and St Helen's Church Spire from Abingdon Bridge, Oxfordshire. The picture was taken in July 1986.

This picture taken at a date unknown in the 1980's and shows a English village scene, again i'm not sure which village is featured.

The picture shows Sugarloaf and Abergavenny Castle, Wales, taken in the 1970's I have also recoloured this picture as my original image was black and white.

Taken in a foreign land in the 70's or 80's, again i'm not sure of the actual date or location and will probably never know being a beach front sunset.

Chasing the Horizon: Unforgettable Ibiza Sunsets from Portinatx (2014)

 There's something truly magical about an Ibiza sunset, and even a less-than-stellar hotel couldn't dim that glow for me back in July 2014. My trip to the White Isle, specifically the northern outpost of Portinatx, yielded a small but cherished collection of photos capturing the stunning daily spectacle from around my hotel, the Club Vista Bahia.

While the Club Vista Bahia, which I believe has since closed its doors, left a lot to be desired in terms of accommodation, its location more than compensated. Perched on the outskirts of Portinatx, it offered uninterrupted, panoramic views of the sun dipping below the ocean's horizon – a sight that quickly became the highlight of each day.

Armed with my Polaroid is2132 bridge camera, I spent evenings capturing the vibrant oranges, fiery reds, and soft purples that painted the sky as the day drew to a close. These aren't professional shots, but they hold a special place for me, encapsulating those serene moments of pure natural beauty.

Even now, looking back at these images, I'm transported to that balcony, feeling the gentle sea breeze and listening to the distant hum of the island coming alive for the night. It's a testament to how even simple pleasures, like a spectacular sunset, can elevate an experience and create lasting memories.

Whitby's Coastal Charm: Four Moments in Time

Imagine standing on West Cliff, the sea breeze on your face, gazing out over Whitby Beach. These four images, taken on August 25th, 2018, attempt to capture that feeling. From this vantage point near Whitby Pavilion, the view extends along the coast towards Sandsend, with the sturdy silhouette of Whitby Harbour Pier anchoring the scene. The Nikon D3300 SLR beautifully rendered the details of this North Yorkshire gem, preserving the essence of a perfect seaside day.

Blackpool Sealife Videos Part 2

Blackpool's glittering promenade is famous for its arcades, the iconic tower, and of course, the bustling Pleasure Beach. But tucked away amidst the seaside charm is a hidden gem for marine life enthusiasts: SEA LIFE Blackpool. Recently, I took my family on a visit, armed with a camera and a healthy dose of curiosity, and I'm here to share my experience.

Let's address the elephant (or perhaps, the shark!) in the room: the entrance fee. At £58.50 for a family of three, some might balk. I admit, it's a significant chunk of change. However, after spending a few hours immersed in the underwater world, I can confidently say it was money well spent.

What made it so worthwhile? For starters, we opted for the behind-the-scenes tour, a fascinating glimpse into the less-seen aspects of marine conservation. This wasn't just a casual stroll past tanks; we were granted access to the medical and feeding areas, witnessing firsthand the dedication and care that goes into looking after these incredible creatures.

I captured nine short video clips during our visit, ranging from 14 to 56 seconds, which are now available both here and on my YouTube channel. These snippets offer a taste of the diverse marine life on display. We encountered graceful stingrays gliding through the water, majestic sharks patrolling their territories, vibrant schools of fish creating a kaleidoscope of colour, and even a shy turtle, attempting a rather comical hide-and-seek game near the tank's surface.
